چکیده

simulated increased activation of ΔCBF =50% of baseline centered on a 100% GM voxel. The following images (left to right) show results from the PVE-corrected method with kernel sizes of 3x3, 5x5, 9x9, 11x11, 13x13, respectively. Note the dilution effect of the larger kernels. Fig.3: Images of: SPGR (left) and PVE-corrected CBF (right). Note good detection of the ischemic region. The observed left-right asymmetry is consistent with PET data (not shown).

Quantitative Functional Arterial Spin Labeling (fASL) MRI – Sensitivity and Reproducibility of Regional CBF Changes Using Pseudo-Continuous ASL Product Sequences

Arterial spin labeling (ASL) magnetic resonance imaging is increasingly used to quantify task-related brain activation. This study assessed functional ASL (fASL) using pseudo-continuous ASL (pCASL) product sequences from two vendors. By scanning healthy participants twice with each sequence while they performed a motor task, this study assessed functional ASL for 1) its sensitivity to detect ta...

Noninvasive measurement of the cerebral blood flow response in human lateral geniculate nucleus with arterial spin labeling fMRI.

To date, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies of the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) have primarily focused on measures of the blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) signal. Arterial spin labeling (ASL) is an MRI method that can provide direct measures of functional cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes. Because CBF is a well-defined physiological quantity that contributes to BOL...

Comparison Between Total CBF Values Measured by ASL and Phase Contrast Over Increased Range of CBF Values

Introduction Arterial spin labeling (ASL) utilizes the water in arterial blood as endogenous contrast agent to assess cerebral blood perfusion and therefore is becoming more commonly used. A perfusion image is generated by subtracting a tagged image from a control image, where the tagged image is acquired following the “labeling” of the blood upstream using an inversion pulse. The time delay be...

Cerebral blood flow measured by arterial spin labeling MRI at resting state in normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease

Arterial spin labeling (ASL) magnetic resonance imaging uses arterial blood water as an endogenous tracer to measure cerebral blood flow (CBF). In this review, based on ASL studies in the resting state, we discuss state-of-the-art technical and data processing improvements in ASL, and ASL CBF changes in normal aging, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and other types of ...

A Technical Perspective for Understanding Quantitative Arterial Spin-Labeling MR Imaging Using Continuous ASL

The current paper describes visually the system of CBF measurement by continuous ASL using schematic illustration. I also discussed the effects of the parameters used in continuous ASL to CBF values as measured with ASL-MRI.
